WHO is DFH?

Diversity Fund Houston is a micro venture fund created to invest in minority tech founders during the “friends and family round,” as well as provide opportunities for them to learn, scale, prepare for their first institutional round of financing, and solve problems impacting their communities.

Less than 3 percent of investment professionals at VC firms are black or Latinx.
Racially diverse teams outperform businesses devoid of any racial diversity by 35 percent.
Black & Latinx founders receive under 2 percent of VC funding.

Founders

Does your big idea need capital? DFH can help you get the mentorship, guidance, funding, and access to a growing network of like-minded black and Latinx founders, mentors, investors, and advisors to scale your business.

Mentors

As a mentor, you will provide one-on-one mentorship during and after founders participate in the Houston Area Urban League’s Small Business Development University, as well as guidance on business growth and strategy development.

TiffanyWILLIAMS

Tiffany L. Williams is Co-Founder and Managing Director of Diversity Fund Houston as well as CEO and Creative Director of Twice Media Productions, a video tech company. She frequently mentors and presents to entrepreneurs in various business programs, such as the Houston Area Urban League’s Small Business University and HCC’s Business Plan Competition. Tiffany currently sits on the board of Leadership Houston and is an alumnus of Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business Executive Education and Google’s Digital Excellence Program. She received her BA in English from Tennessee State University and her MA in journalism and documentary filmmaking from Michigan State University.

KileySUMMERS

Kiley Summers is a St. Louis native, man of faith, husband, and father. He is also Co-Founder and Managing Director of Diversity Fund Houston and the founder and CEO of SpenDebt, a financial technology company. As a professional, he has nearly a decade of experience working as an Operations Manager, Maintenance Engineer, and Business Unit Leader for a fortune 100 company leading people, processes, and technology. He serves as a mentor to MultiPass Venture-Accelerator and Houston Area Urban League’s Small Business Development University. Kiley has a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Yates

PhillipYATES

Phillip Yates is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Diversity Fund Houston. Prior to founding Diversity Fund Houston, Phillip helped establish a pre-venture business incubator for minorities at the Houston Area Urban League, in the Greater Houston Area, one of the largest and most diverse populations in the country. In this role, he focused on identifying key resources to assist startups and early-stage founders with opportunities to scale. Since its inception, this program has helped over 5,000 minority entrepreneurs join the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Phillip is also a licensed attorney in the State of Texas and the Southern District of the United States. He also sits on the board for Lone Star Justice Alliance, League of Women Voters Houston, 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston, and Impact Hub Houston, which connects and empowers people working to solve social problems in our city and around the world.
